3 an attack by criminals on a bank or similar place: a bank raid

2 to make a sudden armed attack on a place: Vikings raided settlements on the east coast. | a raiding party (=group taking part in an attack)
3 to take or steal a lot of things from a place: She raided Jim's cash-box. | Animal-rights activists got in and raided the laboratories. | raid the larder/refrigerator: humorous (=take food from your family's kitchen because you are hungry)
